How to Start a Church Golf Fellowship

A simple, low-pressure path from one idea to a regular gathering.

Begin with a small team

Find two or three people who love golf and care about people. Shared leadership prevents burnout and brings different skills: one person handles tee times, another welcomes newcomers, another leads a short reflection.

Talk with your pastor or church leadership early so the fellowship fits the church's rhythms and policies.

Pick a simple first event

A driving-range night or a 9-hole round is easier to fill than an 18-hole outing. Choose a time when beginners and working people can come, and keep the cost clear up front.

Keep the spiritual element brief and genuine

A five-minute gathering before or after play — one Scripture, one question, one prayer — is usually enough. Make participation optional and never put anyone on the spot to pray aloud.

Follow up and repeat

Thank people personally, ask what would make the next gathering better, and set a regular rhythm such as monthly. Consistency builds community more than any single big event.
